My Grandfather's sister is in possession of the Canady/Bishop Bible (Emanuel Co, Georgia). I beleive it survived the Civil War and it is in very bad shape. However, because of the war and some unmarked graves, etc, it is the only written record of my ggrandparents parents and families. It is the only record that we have of my gggrandparents birthdates. They have been checked against the census records as fairly accurate (and list a few children that were born and died in between censuses). I admit that oftentimes they were not totally accurate, but sometimes one has to take what they can get. As soon as I can find my original transcript, (done in 1983) I will post it to the list.
