The inscription on the cover reads: " Samuel & Sarah D. Raynor, 1835, so I believe it was a wedding gift. PWG. NOTE: In reference to Jane Dodge Raynor and husband William E(dgar). Johnson, marked by ** below: The parents of William E. Johnson were Theodore Taylor Johnson, b.29 July 1818 in Lebanon, N.J. Died 21 Dec. 1893 in NYC. and Esther Adams Lee, b. 21 Dec. 1821 in NYC. and d. 10 Feb. 1882 in Elizabeth, N.J. Their son, William Edgar Johnson was born 21 Jan. 1845 in Phila. Pa. Jane Dodge Raynor and William Edgar Johnson were divorced about 1882. No one in the family knows what happened to Wm. after that, or where he went. He is believed to have moved "West" and remarried. Raynor died Thursday 9th April 1896 at 114 East 45th Street New York City in the sixtieth year of her age. Samuel Judson son of Samuel and Sarah D. Raynor died Tuesday 5th April 1910 at 142 West 91st St. New York City in the sixty sixth year of his age. William Plummer son of Samuel and Sarah D. Raynor died Monday 17th April 1911 at S.R. Smith Infirmary New Brighton N.Y. in the seventy fourth year of his age.
