Hi everyone, As an old eBay user, I can give you a couple of search tips to help you find your family treasures. I hope someone finds them useful. 1. Don't use the search option from eBay's home page. Once at the home page, click on the search option across the top menu of their site. This takes you to a much more detailed search page. 2. Be sure to use the option of searching "title and descriptions". If you don't check this box the search engine will only search the item title which is normally not that descriptive. 3. If you want to search for general items don't use the "title and descriptions" unless it is a unique item such as "Zabriskie Bible". 4. Read the search tips section for help on how to use more advanced searches such as " Brooks +bible -Garth". (You get the idea!) 5. You can also use the "Listings" pages instead of searching. Click on "Listings" from any of the pages you are on. eBay has cluttered up this section a little with the "Hot Items" so you have to wait until the page loads and then find the section that gives you all the categories. You can go straight to the category you may be wanting to browse such as Antiques:Books and Manuscripts or Collectibles:Militaria. But be careful. The items are listed by the seller in whatever category the think it best fits. I have found family items under Railroadiana and other weird categories that I wouldn't have normally checked. 6. Bid with odd amounts. Don't bid $25 on something. Most people bid even amounts. Bid $27 instead. 7. When you find an item that you are really interested in, check the seller's other listings. They often have several items that we would think go together, but they are selling them off one by one. You may want all of them! Email the seller to find out if there is anything else related that they are willing to sell. Many of them will deal with you behind the scenes.
