Janie Elms Matthews ============================================ BIBLE ENTRIES - SAMUEL BLANKENSHIP contributed by Mrs. Josephine Keever, Hiddenite, NC Found in Alexander County Library, Taylorsville, NC The following names, dates of birth, marriages and deaths were found recorded in a Bible bought by Samuel Blankenship from John Nesbit for $6. The date of purchase was not given but the fly-leaf showed that is a "J. Holbrook Stereotype Copy" published in Battleborough, VT in 1818. When Samuel Blankenship died his youngest son James Arthur Blankenship, fell heir to the family bible, and so in turn it was passed on to James Arthur's youngest son, Washington Sherrill Blankenship. It is now in the possession of Mrs. W. S. Blankenship of Taylorsville, NC at whose home this data on Samuel Blankenship and his family was copied by J. Mercer Blankenship and Miss Espie Blankenship on Saturday, June 17, 1950. The first entries were made by Samuel Blankenship himself and read as follows: Thomas Blankenship, my father, died Sept. 20, 1815 Mary Blankenship, my mother, died June 3, 1802 Ritter Adams, my sister died Dec. 18, 1835, age 69 years Samuel Blankenship, son of Thomas and Mary, was born 3 Mar. 1764 and married Susey Weathers on April 11, 1792. Susey Weathers was born Oct. 3, 1776. Susey (or Susan) was the daughter of Isaac Weathers. Children of Samuel and Susey Blankenship were: John Blankenship b. Feb. 8, 1793 m.
