Need information on how to protect a Family Bible that I just recived from the 1800's. The Bible is in pretty rough shape and the family pages were taken out, but I have them also. What is the best way to pack and store the Bible and the Family Pages so that they will not suffer any further damage. Thank you for any help Nettie

RootsWeb accepts only plain text mail. That means that HTML mail, attachments, ``enriched text'', and a few other formats can't be sent to RootsWeb mailing lists. You can post your message if you send it in plain text; turn off the ``Post in HTML'' or ``Enriched Text'' features of your mail reader, or don't use any attachments. See http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/listowners/html-off.htm for instructions on turning off HTML in most of the popular mail programs, or ask your ISP's technical support line for help. We've had to institute this policy because of the problems that accompany these fancy mail formats. Some people don't have mail programs that are capable of processing the special file formats. Even among those who do, different mail programs handle these special formats in very different and confusing ways. HTML messages pose special problems to our digested mailing lists. Most of all, HTML-ified mail and attachments place a considerable burden on RootsWeb's overworked machines. All in all, mail in this format produces a lot of problems for RootsWeb's servers and subscribers, so we find it's best just to use plain text. -- The RootsWeb staff << End of Forwarded message >> ____ Ms. Gerry Hill 3311 Westgate Dr. Albany, Ga. 31707 -also GerryInGa@juno.com Professional Genealogist. I would like to thank those who tried to offer constructive assistance in my unsubscribing to this listservice. I have tried and tried to send to the D- digest mode and then tried the L-list mode to unsubscribe - for the person who flamed me - for my stupid request - this could very well be one of the reasons I am trying to unsubscribe - if this person thought (for just a moment) perhaps the consideration would have been made that I was having extreme difficulty in unsubscribing - Thank you again to those who tried to help - and I hope the person who was negative will have find someone to show as much patience as was shown to me. Good hunting kka

this could have and does happen on any list at random. I have seen this sort of thing pop up from time to time. The important thing to remember is DO NOT reply to that letter, If you were to reply, this gives your address, and you could be in for a long list of smut SPAM. Until that time, the only address they have is the list. To All: First of all, please, do not fully quote a certain previous message that came through here the other day. Seeing it once is enough. :-) If it helps, I contacted MCI last night and forwarded them the message that came through the other day. The email address that sent the tacky message had a mci.com as the domain address. So I contacted them. I let them know if they condoned that type of spamming, the message would be forwarded to their competitor to use against them after all, their web page proudly boasts a "Combat Spamming" section. MCI assured me it was not their mail service and said their mail service had mcimail.com as the domain name. But the guy I forwarded the message to had mci.com as his address. Don't think I didn't question that. I was under the impression that people who had an mci exchange has mci.com and people who don't, have mcimail.com. I don't know, I didn't understand his explanation of that too well. But he wanted me to forward the message to him and he would look through the code and find out who it actually came from. Carol
