Folks, Last but certainly not least is this magnificent large bible entitled "The Complete History of the Old and New Testament" printed in London, England by W. Rayner, MDCCXXXV (Roman Numerals meaning the year 1735) with Copperplate engraving. The three family names mentioned in this bible are: COLLER, PALMER & LARCOMBE If anybody is interested I will list the hand written family information. Kathryn
Hi all, Here I have the first and second volume bibles (Old & New Testaments) named "The Illustrated Family Bible by John Kitto DD FSA which has the owner's name written on the fly sheet inside the front cover: "Hannah E. Walker given by my affectionate mother & father, January 03, 1886 These bibles were published in London by: James Sangster and Co., Paternoster Row. It has many hundred wood engravings Kathryn DeMarco
Greetings: This bible has a leather label on the inside of the front cover jacket which apparently identifies the original owner as: JOHN MAISEY, Upton Near Shiffnal Salop 1865 It is the Self Interpreting Family Bible by, The Rev. John Brown, Vol 1, printed in London: "Printed for THOMAS KELLY, Paternoster Row." This bible is very interesting and unusual. It is embellished with beautiful steel engravings (pictures) has ancient maps, etc. It has normal wear for it's age. I purchased this bible from an antique shop back in the 70's here in Houston, Texas. This bible had the front part of an envelope post marked "GRAYS Essex, Nov. 29, 1945" The envelope was addressed to: Miss L. M. Heobert, 281 Flaxby (?) Rd., Stechford, Birmingham. 9 . (I think the first letter of the last name is an H but due to the English script I am not positive) Theory: The owner of this bible must have immigrated to the US after WWII Perhaps this bible came from an estate sale Unfortunately, I did not ask any questions of the dealer I bought the bible from and it has been over 20 years that I have had it stored in my bedroom closet.
