    3. PLEASE READ!! Let's end all this garb. PLEASE. We all have opinions..... we do NOT however have to tie up the other people's PRECIOUS time stating what we "think" the list should be for! Here is the lead-in stating what this list IS for: If you go to the following URL it states the quote below it: http://www.rootsweb.com/~maillist/misc/index.html FAMILY_BIBLES-L -- A mailing list for the entry ONLY of information on any and all family bibles. Postings regarding a family bible <b>should<b> include, if known, present owner and address (needed as proof to make the bible valid); person submitting the information and address; date purchased, place, and price; plus locations of family discussed in the bible, if known, and all vital information given in the bible ============================ Can we now read and follow instructions without further ado? 3. Folks, I subscribe to a number of listservers at work (for business purposes) and at home (for fun and information). This kind of discussion usually runs it course then pops up again months later. Wonderful thing about all keyboards........the DELETE key. Find it, use it. Makes life very easy and we get back to the business at hand. As for objectionable language, whoever is owner or manager of a listserver should be monitoring and should take action, if necessary. The business listserves just eliminates them and prohibits their rejoining. In Neal's case, I didn't read his original email cause I probably DELETED it (like I have 100's of others). Can we end this line of discussion and get back to the more important stuff? Thank you very much.

It worked fine for me. When I did a search on one of my surnames it came up with several of these chit chats. I was disappointed to find this. Also I found other messages with just the surname in signature files. Another disappointment. I will be sure to remove my signature file on posting in the future. Anyway, I just wanted to others know the search does work. Like any computer input, you must type it correctly to get the response you want. Family_Bibles or Family_Bibles-L. Remember to remove the < & >. Enjoy the hunt, Lou Ann Terry-Clugh, Hey, maybe we should all list our published bibles links as a signature file? http://www.rootsweb.com/~intippec/JEwry.htm http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/3955/bibles.htm (use Find key to look for Clugh)

    1. Re: Offensive Language
    2. I have read all the emails going back and forth with all of them voicing their right of free speech. Only one person has had the tone of voice that really shows a definite lack of anger control in his life, by the choice of words used that were extremely flaming in nature. I am a member of about 15 lists, in which all of them, once in a blue moon, have had messages that stirred up something in people and the emails started flying with it tapering off in a few days. On any of those email exchanges, has no one ever used the kinds of phrases that were used by you on the Family-Bibles list this past week or today. No one, I mean NO ONE has the right to flame others with crude comments for expressing their opinions or making requests. If you can't take it, then chill out! Better yet, like many of us, hit the delete button on the keyboard. You are out of control, sir, and need to get a handle on it. If you do respond back to the list on this note, we'll see who gets the last laugh as yours evoked in me this a.m. Good luck to you; you will need it to get through life without others bothering you. I am disabled, hearing impaired and have k.... many b...... in my lifetime. My family and friends know the heat I am capable of taking. May you know also that life can be precious if one chooses for it to be so. Sue

Be sure not to turn your TV on because it's a common word even in G Rated programs. And when you leave the sanctity of your sheltered home wear hear plugs so as you want be offended. And when you bath wear dark glasses so as not to be offended when you see it in the mirror. Listen folks GROW UP Quit your Bickering and learn to play well with others. 3. How does seeking info , ie searching for Family Bible info hurt the list? I wonder why its not a "delete" key versus a "read and react" issue. I've noted a number of "unsubscribes". One person who sent a chastisement r/e this situation, suggested that those seeking Family Bible info should use the archives. Then that person asked how to access the archives. If there is a reason for this bent, please help those of us who are new understand. In my experience, this geneaology thing is about seeking. those of us who are less accomplished , sometimes don't even know exactly what it is we need to find. Thank you ,in advance for your reply to list. 3. Hello all, I just joined your sparing list because I was told it was a list that had heart. Boy was someone wrong. I even ask some of my family to join, but now, I am afraid I'll have to warn them to stay away from this list, a long way. Oh, I know that there are many good folk on here, but the loud ones seem to run the show and they want their way, even at the expense of others. If I was the owner, I'd close it down Pronto. You name callers and very mean spirited persons ought to join a list of your own and call it "Confussion or My way or else get off!" The name of this List is "Family Bible." Does this talk show anything about the wonderful Book we take our name from? Have you read it lately? Isn't love the theme of the family and the Bible? How much of a mockery are we going to cause to the good name of "Family" or "The Bible?" Someone may say, oh, come on now! Get off your pulpit. Why should I? Don't I have the same rights as you, even if I am a new list member? And besides, I am a full-pledged preacher of the the Word of God. And I say, "Praise The Lord" for all of you who are trying to be civil about this and for even you who lay awake at night thinking of ways to hurt your brothers and sisters. I need the practice to work on my Sunday message, To love one another. I'll move off my soap box and decide if I will get off this list or stay around to irriate the uneasy and troublesome. Have a Nice day! God still rules. 1. I FOUND IT!
    2. Jeannine R. Garrett
    3. I decided to clean and unpack this room to a decent semblance of humanity and found the Bible I was looking for. It is falling apart. It was printed in 1893, has deteriorating leather covers. The fronispiece/nameplate states "Clayton C. Kohl, Perrysburg, Ohio A.D. 1895 Christmas Gift from my Father." There is no writing on the family history pages. However, there are clippings, a typed copy of a Tennyson poem (with a note on the back the same as the frontispiece) and a note stating "Ecclesiastes 12-13 text for Uncle Conrad's funeral Jan. 8, 1925". The correspondence packet is rather large; letters to John Kohl in Perrysburg, Miss Matilda Kohl (same), a 1937 high school graduation announcement for Earl Dale Kopp in Perrysburg, Miss Meltha Kohl (same), a wedding invite of Altha Evelyn Winzeler to Paul Collins Richardson, 28 Jul 1928 in Maumee, Ohio, etc. I also have a photo floating about that belongs to this collection. As I said, these were found in the attic of 109 East Evers, Bowling Green, Ohio in a trunk in 1968/9. If anyone has a claim to them, PLEASE let me know and I will priority mail them to you! 3. --0-719885386-935208150=:3417 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline I sent this email earlier. It is how I understand the discription for this list. To see for yourself, go to Rootsweb.com, then down to roots lists, then to misc lists, and down to Family Bibles. I believe this list is to post the information from Bibles we have so others can see if it is who they are looking for. Then we can go to the archives and see which ones have been listed. I was sent this message today when I asked how to get to the archives. "Click on http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl Add to your Favorites. Then type in Family_Bibles . Be sure to use the right case. " This is the way I understand the directions. Hope this will help someone. I am looking for Bibles at yard sales, auctions, used book sales, anywhere someone may have one they don't want. Please post the information you have in your Bible(s). When you need a Bible, check the archives to see if someone has listed that information. Quite frankly, if I were to find a Bible today, I don't remember any of the names that have been listed and I won't take the time to try to find out if the one I have is on this list. I would post the information and then let the readers see if it was something they wanted. If you are looking for a Bible list it on the surname, state or county list. BTW you may have a Family Bible that you don't want to get rid of but the information in it might help someone else. Would you please list the names, dates, locations, etc. from them? Please post only what is in the Bible and contact the person direct to get more information about it. One question for the list. HOW do you find the archives for the Family Bible List?? Would someone please post that URL? Linda __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Bid and sell for free at http://auctions.yahoo.com --0-719885386-935208150=:3417--
