    3. This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team We are presently setting up email groups at https://groups.io/. If there is interest in migrating this list to groups.io please respond to this message to that effect ASAP. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di

Jones departed this life July 28th 1933 Mrs Eliza J Jones departed this life June 28th 1914 It seems this Bible originally belonged to Nancy and George A F Allen, after George Allen's death, Nancy Allen married George Griffeth. Nancy Allen Griffeth's daughter, Ann Eliza, married William Jasper Jones,Sr. After Ann E Jones' death, William Jasper Jones, Sr married Nancy Coleman, who took up entries in the Bible. George Augustus Jones only surviving child, Lillie Lois Jones, who married Otto W Kranbiel, died without issue. Before her death, she gave this Bible to her cousin's daughter, the grandchild of William Jasper Jones and his second wife, Nancy Coleman. She left the Bible to her daughter, and my mother gave me this Bible, and I wish to share it with you. The outer part of the Bible is in terrible condition, with the cover gone, and is missing the New Testament from the 1st Chapter of James, and the first twenty-one chapters of Genesis from the Old Testament. However the Family Pages in the center are intact, and in good condition. In the possession of Jane Strickland, Atlanta, GA

    3. When Mary Penn Stinchcomb died in Elbert Co Georgia around 1837, in her will, she left her Bible to her oldest daughter, Frances Asbury Stinchcomb Chambers. No one in the Stinchcomb family has heard of the Bible since. No Chambers descendant that I've contacted or that has contacted me, has heard anything about the status of the Bible. Just in case.....I'm mentioning it here.

    1. [FAMILY_BIBLES] Looking for family Bible for Shanahan, Ryan, McCabe in Connecticut
    2. Peg Kelly
    3. MY GGrandparents, William Shanahan (Ryan) and Catherine McCabe lived at Wilson Point Road in S. Norwalk, Connecticut. Catherine was born in April of 1852 in Kilkenny, Ireland and died in May of 1938 in Norwalk Ct. William was born in Sept of 1849 in Tipperary, Ireland and died in August of 1919 in Norwalk, Ct. I believe their daughter Agnes Huck and her husband Frank were the last to live in the home where the family bible was. Agnes, died in May of 1948, I would love to locate the Bible as it is my brick wall, and could give me great information I have been hunting for. Thank you for any help you can give. 3. Liz, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You and your family will be in my prayers. I have removed his address from the list. If you are aware of any other lists he was subscribed to I will be glad to inform other listowners about him. Thank you for letting us know. Thank you, Liz Welch. If you have ideas as to how this list can be most useful, please tell us. This list is for you. Also, if I remember correctly, we had a website set up related to the list. Am I delusional or does anyone have knowledge of that? I hope to hear from you all (y'all as we say in Georgia) very soon. 3. Jim, thanks so much for taking this on. Over the past several years I've been fortunate enough to connect several families with bibles I had acquired. It is a most satisfying moment. But having a central site both to look for or try to connect with bibles and families is very important. I would like to list the following bible. If this information is not what you need, or in a format you can use, please let me know and I'll work it so you don't have to. It is a large bible so I would like to send it COD so the family could pay the shipping, if that is permitted. "Family Rosary Commemorative Edition of the Catholic Bible issued in remembrance of The Marian Year - presented to Lee and Herb Downey by Mary Jane & Frank Downey, May 2, 1959. (this is a beautifully illustrated and large bible. However the cover has separated entirely from the book. In the section "Our Family" it begins: Herbert A. Downey and Lee (Elaine) Stohlbrost (Stahlbrost?) Downey received from each other the Sacrament of Matrimony on May 2, 1959 at St. Thomas Acquinas Chapel, Boulder, Colorado There are pages of the Downey ancestors as well as the Sto/ahlbrost ancestors (from Sweden There is also a page of pabtisms for John Andrew Downey (1960) and Evan Andrew Downey (1989). There are also Confirmation, Holy Eucharist, Matrimony, Deaths, and Military (w/photo) pages partially completed."
