    1. [FAMILY-REUNIONS] Welsh Mountain Family Reunion - New Holland PA
    2. Anita Wills
    3. For the first time in over 100 years descendants of the Welsh Mountains will be gathering. Our family surnames include Green, Boots, Stewart, Martin, Johnson, Henson, Page, Coleman, Harris, Nocho, and Watson. We are invited those who have left the Mountain and those still on the Mountain to this Historic Event. The Welsh Mountains is located in Lancaster Pennsylvania, and borders on Berks, Chester, Dauphin, and York Counties. It was first inhabited by Natives then Free Blacks, escaped slaves, and disenfranchised Whites. Over generations a community was formed from those who inhabited the mountains, and folktales were developed. Some left the community headed for the military or jobs in other locations. This celebration is a gathering of those who left and those who remain on the mountain. We look forward to meeting our family on the Mountain. Where: Welsh Mountain Community Center 564 Sandmine Road New Holland Pennsylvania 17557 When: August 4, 2012 Time: 12:00 - 6:00 pm Who: Anita Wills/Linda Rouse Contact: ntawls@gmail.com We will have plenty of food, music, games, entertainment, and sharing.

    1. [FAMILY-REUNIONS] Free "Ask Granny" materials for family reunions
    2. Judith F. Russell
    3. I'm writing to remind you of our free materials that would be fun and useful for your family reunions that might be scheduled this summer, the program called "Ask Granny." My friend and I have developed this series of free emailed pdf files which can be used to collect and record irreplaceable family memories of any senior citizens you might know. The enhanced ancestral chart is what you would use to help seniors record their basic family info back to their great grandparents and the 1930 census. The files are designed to be used, mix and match, for many situations. They can be made into posters, slides, and handouts. There are teaching aids as well as a file to help teach children how to interview their Grannies and Grandpas. We've sent the files all over the world and have lots of good feedback from individuals and Genealogical Societies as far away as Australia. More info is at: https://sites.google.com/site/askgranny2010/ Please let me know if you have questions or if you'd like me to send you the files for your reunion or other family history/senior citizen activities. We don't anyone to ever have to say when it's too late: "Why didn't we Ask Granny about that??" Don't respond to the list, please....send requests to jrussell2@charter.net or ask.granny.us@gmail.com Regards and best wishes, Judy Russell Family research on Smith, Gilbert, Edmundson, and Gauntt ******************************************************** Judith F. 1. [FAMILY-REUNIONS] Query: Time Capsules for Family Reunions
    2. Jan Home
    3. I'd like to hear from subscribers to this list who have used 'time capsules' as part of their family reunion planning. I am seeking this information to use in my book on 'Family Time Capsules' due to be published later this summer. If you could share with me some of your experiences, the information could be passed along, with your permission and possible credit, such as "The Conkle Family of Washington County, PA uses a time capsule every 5th year at their reunion." To those who have used a time capsule before, please consider the following questions: 1. How did you spark interest in doing a time capsule? 2. Did you use a signature scroll or archival notebook for attendees to sign? 3. What did you use as a container for the capsule and where did you place it? 4. How long did you plan to save the information until it was opened again? 5. How did you decide what to put into the time capsule? 6. What did you hope to gain from placing and opening the time capsule periodically? To those who've not used a time capsule before, I'd like to hear any concerns or thoughts about such an activity. Sincerely, Janet Reinhold PO Box 4001 Covina CA 91723 jan@futurepkg.com
