Make a copy of your database by making a backup and restoring that backup to a temporary location. Be sure it's in a different folder, otherwise you'll just overwrite your present database. Then you might want to rename the temporary database so you don't confuse it with your real database. Then open the temporary database, unlink the mother from her parents and then make the ancestor book of the child. If you're doing a descendant book of the father's ancestor, it shouldn't involve the mother's ancestors anyway. But since you're working with a temporary database, you could unlink any descendant branch you want to omit. Wayne League
