Can someone explain any of this to me and let me >know how to back up my F.O. onto a floppy or preferably a CD? Well, it depends on how old your FO is whether its backups are zipfiles or not. I believe FO5 was the first version to use zipfiles for backups. But regardless of the version you have or the method it uses for compression, it should be able to restore its own backups. (You normally do that by choosing the restore item under the file menu). As for which method to use, the compressed file is for using a large capacity disk that can hold a huge backup such as a hard disk, iomega zip drive disk, or a CD. The disk spanning file is for small floppy disks and it will call for as many disks as necessary to store the complete database backup. Wayne League
