Were these floppies single density floppies by chance? I tried to help a friend of mine who had XP and a MIDI board or something, The board had to have the single density 3 1/2" floppies, but his Windows XP couldn't format, read or write to them. Try it with 2HD floppies and see if it works. (the ones with holes in two corners) Alfred D. I like to keep my database on a laptop I use while traveling. However, I tried backing up & restoring data--this did not work. Then I tried to export and import a Gedcom from my desktop to the laptop. This didn't work either. Both were done with data on a floppy disk, In both cases, I got error messages and instructed to send them to Microsoft, which I did. > I have Windows 98 on my desktop & XP on the laptop. I suspect incompatibility. Can anyone help? > > Jack Revare > Leawood, KS > [email protected] > Fam. History Book: http://www.revare.com/jack >
