Am I going to have to get another computer so that I can help with Windows XP questions? <};-) I am not sure what part of copying data from one computer to another would upset Family Origins, unless you were overwriting or moving some of the data that Family Origins was using at the time. Family Origins puts a file in the windows folder of Win 95-98 and ME, "FOWin32.INI" I imagine that it is in the place where XP puts all of it's INI files too. It tells FOW what options you have set. If you delete this file, I think that you will be able to start Family Origins again. What I think is happening is that it is trying to load the last database that you had opened when it crashed in the first place. That database is probably corrupted in some way so that Family Origins cannot use it anymore. Once you get Family Origins running, restore your latest good backup. FormalSoft never did furnish tech support. Genealogy.com has the marketing rights and is supposed to furnish tech support. http://www.genealogy.com/help/?Welcome=1027978783 Alfred D. The Formal Soft website is a Catch 22 situation. > Has anyone come across this problem--I installed 10 on my new laptop with XP. It worked fine for 2-3 months until I wanted to add new data. I was using a program to copy data by a USB cable from the desktop to the laptop. FO-10 did not like this at all. Now I can's even get the program to open. I am getting a message that says "we encountered an error opening this program. Do you want us to notify Microsoft"? I know M/S is not going to do anything about it. > Any suggestions? > Jack. > Jack Revare > Leawood, KS > [email protected] > Fam. History Book: http://www.revare.com/jack >
