    1. [FO] Order of Events, Once Again
    2. I thought I was fairly proficient at using FO, but with a wounded ego and head a couple hat sizes smaller I submit this: One of my cousins had a marriage end in divorce in 1893. He remarried in 1896. In 1895 he was engaged in a liason with another woman which resulted in a child being born. I have tried everything I can think of to get these events to appear in the proper sequence in his book - first marriage and divorce, liason, second marriage - without success. Help, Please. Earl B. 3. Earl The marriage and divorce dates should work with not problem. Do the facts appear in the correct order in the Edit screen? Secondly, check your order for his spouses, all 3 of them. Arange them in the correct order from the Edit / Rearrange / Spouses. This controls the order in the book reports. Remember the term spouse does not mean marriage, but the association of a couple. 3. Highlight the man with the three "spouses" Go to the Edit menu, Select "Rearrange" - "Spouses" They appear in the reports in the order that they appear here, not necessarily the date of the union. Using the 'rearrange spouses' in the edit menu will sort the families in the proper order even when no dates are given. The liason gets no marriage event but is still treated by FO as a spouse and gets sorted in the order you specify. Within each family section in the book report, undated events may appear out of order, ie: the divorce in 1893 may appear before the marriage if no date is given to the marriage event. Therefore an arbitrary date for the marriage may be necessary (such as 'bef 1893'). Here is a modified register with your basic data created by FO and sent to a text file: Descendants of John Jones - 17 Jul 2002 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FIRST GENERATION 1. John Jones. He was married to Loopy Loo before 1893. He was divorced from Loopy Loo in 1893. John Jones and Kitty Skids had the following children: 2 i. Whoop Jones was born in 1895. He was married to Mary Permente in 1896. from Wayne League
