You don't need to create a GEDCOM to import your database into FO 10. I just upgraded from v 8 to 10 and was given the warning "The database you want to open . . . is from an earlier version of Family Origins. If you continue, Family Origins will convert this database to the current version. Once the database is converted, you will need to create a GEDCOM file if you want to move your data back to an earlier version of Family Origins." I have not had any problems converting and using my databases. Is the the message you are getting? If so, you can jus go ahead with the conversion and you only have to create a GEDCOM if you want to take your data back to an older version of the program. If that's not the problem, are you accidentally trying to open the older version of the program? On my computer, the v10 upgrade overwrote v8, so even though v8 is still on my menu (until I delete it) it is no longer functional. I would have to reinstall the old program to have it work. My upgrade has gone very smoothly, so I hope this answers your question. If not, maybe someone else has an idea.
