    2. In the churches I am familiar with, Christening or Blessing is for the purpose of giving the baby a name for church records. Baptism comes later - in our church when the baby becomes eight years old. Virginia

I have Baptismal Certificates for my Mother and her siblings, all Baptised within a day or two of their birth (Catholic Baptisms) and all clearly called Baptism. None are called Christening. IMO, there is no way to apply any rule to the use of the two terms, since they are both used so many different ways by so many different people. -- Charlie Hoffpauir http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~charlieh/
