I apparently failed to save the recent messages on creating a book index once one has saved a "book" in rtf file format and opened it in Word. I know someone who is trying out the version 8 demo to see how this feature works. Could someone please send some easy to follow instructions for creating the book index for someone new to Family Origins. Thanks for any help. Margaret Scheffler

It is more a function of the word processor that you are using than it is of Family Origins. With MS Word 6 and Word 2000, (so I suppose everything in between) after you have opened the RTF book in Word, go to the end, just below the word "INDEX" and then go to the "Insert" menu, select "Index/Toc" then follow the prompts to finish up. I suppose other word processors have something quite similar, but named a bit differently.
