    3. Hi Cliff, No, they are not attachments, they are *seen* as attachments in some mail programs. I use Outlook Express and each message "attached" and *in* a digest is identified by an envelope icon that can be individually replied to and pick up the subject line. Evidently, this method was a Bill Gates idea, because no one using Outlook Express is thrilled with it. If an AOL user forwards an email to me, my OE also *see* that item as an attachment. It does not arrive inline and I must open the attachment (text email) to read it. As I mentioned earlier, using control key/F3 keys simultaneously after highlighting (not opening) one of the subject lines in the "attachments" area of an OE digest message, will open up the message source and allow you to read the entire digest as a plain text message. Rootsweb computers filiter out attachments. People using Netscape (probably Eudora and Pegasus as well as other mail programs) do not *see* attachments to Rootsweb digests. Only the chosen few like us do <grin>.
