I upgraded to version 9 after 9.02 was available. Therefore, I am not too sure what the problems were with the 9.00 base, but I certainly didn't encounter them because I waited. What's the conventional wisdom, get 10.0 now, or wait for the 10.x patch? Jerry, From the tone of your note, it sounds to me like you intend to upgrade, and the only question is "now, or later?". Since the patch (if one is needed) will be free, there's no real economic reason to wait ($20 won't earn you very much interest in a couple of months these days). Order now and you'll get to join in when everyone starts discussing the new features. Jerry Bryan wrote: > > I upgraded to version 9 after 9.02 was available. Many of us continue order the new versions as soon as they are released. Usually any problems that turn up are minor. However, a program that may be very stable on most computers may have "glitches", at times due to differences in systems and combinations of programs that may not have shown up as the program was being tested. Normally these "glitches" do not result in the lost of one's data. However, no matter what the computer, user, or program, we should all protect ourselves with backups of our personal data. Our programs may continue work fine, but a hard drive, floppy disk, etc. could fail. I am not reluctant to order version 10 and install it immediately. We are fortunate that Bruce monitors the list and attempts to correct problems should they arise. Monitoring the list is also a good way to learn how to use new features of a particular version. And Jerry, wipe that smug look off of your face, you still have the original 9.0 if you haven't applied the patch yourself. Family Origins was never shipped as a complete package with the patch applied. You and I have never had any troubles with the original 9.0, (although I applied the patches as soon as they were available) but some people did, and the ones with the problems were the only ones we have heard from. (Mostly, once in a while someone writes to say how happy they are, but it is usually to complain) Alfred =================== ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jerry Bryan" <c24m48@hotmail.com> > I upgraded to version 9 after 9.02 was available.
