    3. A subdirectory to the program files is an excellent place to keep your databases, though you can easily put your data in whatever directory you prefer. Most people don't really want them in the "My Documents" folder as it will be mixed in with heaven only knows what that other programs put there. I try to avoid that folder for any program at all costs. Just make sure not to have your only backups in the data folder on your hard drive. You should have a series backups over time on removable media. Margaret Scheffler ----- Original Message ----- From: "C. G. Ouimet" <couimet3@home.com> > Right on! 3. Just for the record... I do use "My documents" and have never had other files just mixed in "with heaven only knows what".... When I install any program I pay attention to where data is to be filed and, if at all possible, tell it where to go. Similar to C.G. Ouimet, I design my own file base: My Documents +backup Files ++Quicken ++Family Origins ++Palm archives +book files ++!Active ++Editing ++Hold +CW ++data ++update patches +Family Origins ++Johnson ++Siebold ++Peck +My Pictures ++Clarks Green ++Ogunquit ++Railroad +WordPerfect ++!Active ++1999 ++2000 ++2001 ++Forms ++Letterheads ++ .... and so forth... ...and so on. No program has just saved to "My Documents" randomly (at least none that I have). But you have to do what is logical and easy for you. Just spend some time with pencil and paper (somewhat ironic isn't it??) and you won't be sorry.
