Hello Listers, There's been a lot of discussion about identifying other spouses and siblings from the Tree View. I thought maybe some of you would be interested in the way Family Origins did it back in the good old DOS days. When you open a database in v3.0a, the screen gives you a 3 generation tree view with #children:, #marriages: and Notes/Sources? (Yes or No) in the lower left corner of the screen for the highlighted person. As you move around the tree with the arrow keys, the numbers change as does the Yes or No. If you want to see the Spouses of a person with more than 1 marriage, you can hit the S key and a pop up window will show the Spouses with the current one marked with an arrow. You can cursor up or down to the one you want to display and hit Enter. The tree view will now show the new arrangement. If you want to see the siblings, hit the B key (Bro/Sis) and the pop up window will show all the brothere and sisters with an arrow on the current one. If you want to select a different child, cursor up or down to that one and hit Enter. The tree view will now show the new arrangement. In the case of Spouses, the pop up window shows names and marriage years. In the case of Bro/Sis, the pop up window shows names and birth years. I think this system is pretty slick. It is a lot easier than switching to the Family View (which v3.0a doesn't have) to find other spouses and children as we must do now. I'm not proposing this but think that if Bruce wants to respond to some of the requests, this might be an easy solution. Charles Gohlke
