    3. Hello, I am sending this to both lists, FO and RM, recognizing that many will see it twice. I just recently realized that a FO list exists and now the RM list to which I have been just listening. It appears that very resourceful and helpful people inhabit these lists (a little flattery never hurts), so I now write. I have a specific question, but first a bit of introduction. I have been a user, for my personal genealogy, of FO since release of v4.0 and find FO to have been superior to every other program I have tried. I have ordered and anxiously await the arrival of RM. About a year ago I inherited the stewardship (volunteer effort) of a large and growing database regarding the genealogy of New México which was settled by the Oñate Colony in 1598. We call it the Great New México Pedigree Database. This effort is sponsored by our "Club" the Hispanic Genealogy Research Center of New México. (see at www.hgrcnm.org) The database now contains over 62,000 names and is growing by about 500 names per month as the result of research by club members and other interested folks. Over 96% of the persons represented in the database are members of one connected family tree as we are the descendants of the approximately 57 families who came here with Oñate and stayed loyal after the mutiny in 1600 and were re-inforced with the addition of more recruits in the year 1693. You can see why we say in Spanish somos todos primos (we are all cousins). Because the database is growing rapidly and many want to have access to the info we have gathered, about once a month I generate a GEDCOM, translate with GED2HTML and upload the revised data to the web. We want to protect the dates associated with living persons from view on the web but want to show their relationship in the tree. We want to retain the full information in our master data base. Now for the question: How do I suppress just the dates for "living persons" but leave their position in the family tree? GED2HTML has an option that will suppress the dates but also pulls the relationship to the tree at the same time. I have communicated with Stark (author of GED2HTML). He recognizes my problem and may at some time in the future make provision in an updated version to be able to remove just the dates without pulling the person from the tree, but for now I am stuck I could individually edit the records (not practical with the size of the database and the frequency of the task. Or I could maintain 2 databases, one with dates and the other complete (again not practical). I have tried to clean the data with GEDclean32. Maybe I have not been clever enough to use the options there but the results so far have been less than satisfactory. Is there an option in FO.10 (or coming in RM) that provides the option to suppress the dates when exporting that I am not aware of? Does (pardon the transgression of mentioning the evil name) FTM have such an option? If it does, I guess I could export the data from FO to FTM to generate a new GEDCOM to send to GED2HTML. Or does someone see a more clever way that is not labor prohibitive to solve the problem. Thanks, Marlin
