A couple things in addition to the points that Margaret makes is the extreme annoyance at trying to delete or merge a person. In FO if you select the person and hit delete you get a dialog box asking if you are sure and if you acknowledge yes, that person is history. FTM treats you like a moron and you can't really be sure you want to delete a person. Also after you have combined data from an old FTM file and want to delete it, it is impossible. Again more moron treatment. There is a decided lack of standard facts that are missing in FTM and if you try to import data from one of them, it is very easy to lose data. There is a place list and a source list in FO that is very easy to manage so that all of your places read the same and not like Kewaunee Co.;Kewaunee County; Kewaunee co, or Kewaunee Co, and all the other iterations that you can come up combining a city, county, state and a few hospitals or cemeteries, churches not to mention hundreds of ways to abbreviate a state either by typos or spelling mistakes. Bottom line: I would never use FTM instead of FO. I am awaiting RM, not because FO is missing anything but because you can always have more goodies. Please write if you need more about FO.
