There was a thread recently where events were out of order. For example, a marriage after a death if the marriage had no date associated with it and the death did. I have encountered a new situation which is a little different because both events do have correct dates associated with them, yet they are out of order. I have a person born in January 1850, enumerated in the 1850 census age 4/12. I don't put a month or day on census events, just the year. When I have it, I do put the exact enumeration date as a note, but not as a part of the date of the census event. This person was enumerated before they were born according to Family Origins. When you enter only the year, it seems to be sorted as if it were the first of January of that year. When you enter only the month and year, it also sees to be sorted as if it were the first day of that month. But, evidently, when the month is Jan, it is listed after just the year. So, using your system of only entering the year for census information, anyone that was born in the year of the census is counted before they are born. (Is that anything like "Counting your chickens before they are hatched"?) I don't know what you can do about it other than give the census a complete date too, but, it often isn't known.
