Thank you all for your > explanations. ============== I guess that I could never grasp the logic of what it is that you are trying to do, or what a "non-computer read chart" is, but I'm glad that you have figured it out. If you are talking about manually putting a number on each individual, you might consider putting it as a prefix or a suffix (the places where you would put "Dr.", or the place where you would put "Jr."), because if you put different numbers in the same field with the surname they will likely come up as different surnames because of the different "spelling" (number) you gave each one.
