You should source your data as Margaret explains. To come back at a later time, and try to do it THEN, that's a BIG problem. I can vouch for that. One thing you MUST keep in mind when you do source your info, whatever info you set up in the Source Manager itself will print out in your footnote listing at the rear of the books (if you so choose). When you reuse the same source, you will NOT reprint the source words again. It will just use the same footnote number for all further times you use the same source. (This cuts down on LONG footnote pages.) Once you use a source CITATION DETAILS Field for ANY purpose, the rule changes. You no longer get one full printout of the source and further usage of it referencing back to the original. EACH DETAILED source footnote prints out in its entirety again, again, and again; as many times as you differentiate each by using the DETAIL field. NOW, your book, when you print footnotes, becomes VERY big. The footnote pages expand greatly. For my ancestors, I want all the data I can to print out in the books so, for them, I overlook this problem. For other folks. I try to setup and use a very generic source in the Source Manager, thus using the repetitive, no-print feature. I STILL have footnote pages that are too large. When I run this type of book thru Rand's program to bring footnotes to the pages where they are refereed to, in some cases, the footnotes take up MORE space on the page than the data itself. Oh well. To each his/her own. You also have the option of including or excluding the detail in a source. If you exclude the detail, then the pages of source will cut down to a reasonable number. I use the full detail for an exchange or where the person would be interested in the full information. For my family, who is more interested in the extra that I have placed in notes to help flesh out the genealogy, I leave off the detail, but still include the source. You will not get the page after page then of repeated sources for each reference. Keith Thompson TBremersr@aol.com wrote: > > You should source your data as Margaret explains.
