I have started to have a problem. After getting a person, then going to a sub area, like to his Note section and typing something there, the screen freezes up and then the mid section go into a white page like with the background of the report behind. The only way out is to close down the computer since the X will not take the command. Anyone else out there had this problem? Stafford-Ames Morse
What version of Family Origins are you running? --While in Family Origins, go to the help menu and select "About Family Origins" and it should tell you exactly what version you have. You get no error message? You say that the only way out is to shut down the computer. Have you tried the three finger salute? Press [CTRL] - [ALT] - [DEL] all at the same time and you will get a list of programs running, you might be able to select Family Origins and then the "End Task" button and not have to close down entirely. It is always such a pain rebooting when you have to "pull the plug" on the whole system. Speaking of which, What operating system are you using. It usually tells you what operating system is when it boots. Or you can try the "Start" button, select help and it should tell you. You can try going to: http://www.familyorigins.com/support/knowbase.html and see what you can find. Since you have version 9.02, I am in agreement with Allan Plucinik. I suspect that there is a shortage of resources somewhere. Does this happen when you have only Family Origins open, or when have several other programs open in the background? There are programs for monitoring your system resources, one comes with Windows 98, (I don't remember if it was in 95 or not) In 98 it should be found by going to the Start menu, Programs, Accessories, System tools and finally "Resource Meter". If Mr. Morse has done lots of editing in the one session, maybe this is the Windows memory leakage problem again. Perhaps he can let us know if it happens right away after he reboots the computer.
