    3. It can't be the folder options and file type, because on my computer, mine is set (against my wishes of course) to ged as FTM ged file, and the file type is left blank. Nonetheless, my IE 5.0 opens David's file as a text file in notepad. This doesn't happen to one of mine, and I have suggested that the problem might lie in the name "index.ged" but otherwise I don't know. Linda for comparison see my ged file at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~scheimann/seyfert/seyfert.htm On Sun, 01 July 2001, "Jerry Bryan" wrote: > > >I tried to download my own GEDCOM > >using IE 5.5 (my default browser, if that matters) and got only the text > >version of the information to show up on my monitor, and not the dialog > >asking if you want to "save it to disk." > > This is because in your folder options, under file types, you have the > gedcom or .ged file type set up with the "content type (MIME)" box > showing it to be a text/plain file.
