    1. Re: [FO] backup to CD

    3. I just tried it, I got the same message you did when I put a brand new disk in the drive and tried to backup to it. I used the Adaptec DirectCD Wizard to format the disk, then tried a backup, it worked slick as "frost on the back stoop", much faster than to a floppy. Now I remember why I hadn't done this before. There was a warning when I removed the disk that it wasn't readable by regular CD drives, only writeable or rewriteable CD drives would be able to read it. I have a couple of the old, read only drives and there is always the possibility that this drive will go bad and I will have to use the old ones. (does any one know how to spell writeable/writable? It must be too new for Microsoft Word 2000) The Adaptec Create CD, where you write everything in one session and can not write to the same disk again, writes in a format that is readable by all CD drives. Good Luck, Alfred ========== ----- Original Message ----- From: "Arlene" <aparnes@earthlink.net> > I've been backing up both to MY DOCUMENTS folder and to a CD-RW. > > Now I need to use a new CD. > > I am getting the following message: "You do not have permission to open > this file.
