I'm looking for suggestions for the name of Fact titles to cover the following situations: A) My father and grandparents emigrated from Sweden in 1907. I recorded this event by entering the date and place of emigration from Sweden under the fact "Emigration". Their arrival date to New York is recorded under the fact "Immigration". My grandmother was very homesick and she and my father returned to Sweden in 1911 and returned to America the following year, 1912. It seems inappropriate to reuse the facts Emigration and Immigration to record this event, but what should the event be called? "Return to America" or ??? My reluctance to reuse Emigration and Immigration is based on my dictionary definition of immigration, " to come to a new country or region or environment, esp. to settle there". Since they already settled here and my grandfather stayed here during their absence maintaining the household, then it would seem that they didn't emigrate or immigrate on their second voyage to America.. But what do you call this event? B) Another family relation immigrated in 1836 to NYC at the age of two with his parents. In 1852 he sailed from New York to Panama, crossed the isthmus and then sailed up Pacific to San Francisco. What is the best title to document this event? Migration ? I'm open to all suggestions. These are not critical points, but interesting bits of family history which presently lie in paper form in folders, unrecorded in my database. I'd like to share this information cousins. It would far easier to combine it with all the other standard facts so easily recorded in FO, so it would be delivered in one package. I realize that I could probably alter a "Book Report" to add this info, but being a one finger typist, I'm looking for an easier way out. Bob Bjorkman Carlisle, PA.
