    1. [FO] 9.0 program crash

    3. Please Help!!! My FO 9.0 with my life's work on it (since the first FO version about 10 years ago) has just crashed and won't open. I had been getting 'invalid page fault' for a few days that shut down the program. Tech support said to compress/pack the database, which I did (the book also said this might help). Today it said - [Error 200 Error 83805 File is not a Data File database corruption detected C:\Program Files\ParsonsTechnology\FamilyOrigins\ROBC.DBF] The next box said - [Error 935 Error 94001 Null Input Parameter unexpected d4field] the next said - [Program error Exiting Application] Is this the kind of thing the patches would help, or is it too late? I've only been working in one of my databases, so don't know if it's just this one, or all, or my computer. I'd be so grateful for any help or direction to go in. Thank you. Sandy

    3. Yes! That is what the patch is for. Yes! It is too late now. Unless you have a recent backing up of your data. And, Yes! It is only the one database, (at least for now – Get the patch installed!!!) If you do not have a backup, follow Linda’s advice and get some professional help to recover your data. If you have a backup and cannot get into the program to restore a backup: You can rename or delete the file in the windows folder named “FOWIN32.INI” and then you can reopen Family Origins and restore a backup or open another database. (If you don’t install the patch to make it 9.02, you will probably have it happen again) Some of the problems with Family Origins 9.0 are addressed in a program patch. This patch upgrades Family Origins 9.0 to 9.02, and is a free download of about 1MB found at: http://formalsoft.com/files.htm There are thousands hardware combinations, thousands of programs, thousands of ways to set up Windows, and only a small percentage of Family Origins users have that problem. Bruce has it pretty well stopped with the 9.02 patch, but the only real safety net is a good, recent backup. Even one on the hard drive in the same folder as the data files, where FOW puts the backup by default, would solve your problem. And, with only one keystroke each time you shut down.
