    3. Thanks, everyone. I have forwarded to her. The 2400 dpi request came from a restoration consultant who wanted scans that size in order to do retouching. It's not something I would have done, because I'm not sure what the historic value of a "repainted" photograph would be. The consultant suggested she take the photos to a studio for this scanning, but she was trying to save money by doing it herself on her home computer. Obviously her plan backfired. Her hard drive still shows only 5 MB free space on a 10 gigabyte system, so those scans must be lurking somewhere even though she thinks she has deleted them. This will probably take a computer repair guy to sort out. Thanks for the excellent URL on scantips, Linda _________________________________________________________________ iVillage.com: Solutions for Your Life Check out the most exciting women's community on the Web http://www.ivillage.com

    3. 2400 dpi seems a bit high for restoration. Most of the people involved in restoration seldom use above 1200 dpi. Usually 800 to 1000 dpi is the choice. The size of the original photograph may dictate the choice of dpi when doing restoration. Still 2400 dpi seems a bit extreme Frank ----- Original Message ----- From: "Linda Scheimann" <linda514@ivillage.com> To: <FAMILY-ORIGINS-USERS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 06, 2001 10:09 PM Subject: Re: [FO] Fwd: OT Scanner Problem > Thanks, everyone.
