Can you tell us exactly the steps you take to arrive at that message. I don't know when the GEDCOM standard began, but 1970 was a *very* long time ago as far as computers go. If it is a GEDCOM, then Family Origins should be able to import it. But, remember that you should always import a GEDCOM into an empty database to check it out before importing it to your main database.
