    1. Re: [FO] Opening a Gedcom in Family Origins
    2. Alfred Eller
    3. I am not sure that I understand what you are doing, but it sounds like you are double clicking on a GEDCOM file and expecting it to open in Family Origins. It doesn't work that way with Family Origins. ( it does with FTM ) First, you start Family Origins, go to the "File" menu, select "New database" and create a new database, give it a name that you can associate with the GEDCOM file you have, maybe even the same name. Now, while in this brand new, empty database, go to the "File" menu again and this time select "GEDCOM" - "Import GEDCOM" and navigate to where the GEDCOM is stored and import it. If that is what you are doing, and you are getting the error you mentioned, then there might be something wrong with the GEDCOM. Write back if this doesn't help. Good Luck, Alfred =========== ----- Original Message ----- From: "Martha Geare" <Martited@worldnet.att.net> > I have a gedcom from a person using FTM . 1. [FO] Screen Resolution
    2. James Winfrey
    3. I use a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 on my 19" monitor. For almost all applications that is a great combination. I get a wide view of the data and it's big enough for old eyes. But at that resolution, FO's edit and pop-up screens are too small to be used. Right now, I go in and change the resolution whenever I use the program. Is there a better solution? I know Legacy lets the user make these windows as large as they need to be and employs scalable fonts so that the fonts "grow" with the size of the window. Is that possible in FO? (I've been with FO since Release 2 and this hasn't been a problem until the past couple of years. It coincided with tri-focals I recall). Thanks, Jim Winfrey
