Can't do that. Before I realized there were duplicates, I had already added many more people to the database, so it is now changed. You said in your original message that you thought I had confused "importing a gedcom" with "merge" which was not the case. I should be able to do a duplicate search, tell it to merge and come out with all the duplicates gone. Didn't happen. Just made it worse. Clare
