    3. When I enter census information in the notes they look like the below example. Nice and blocked etc. Census Place: Henniker, Merrimack, New Hampshire Source: FHL Film 1254766 National Archives Film T9-0766 Page 302B Relation Sex Marr Race Age Birthplace Eri COLBY Self M M W 65 NH Occ: Farmer Fa: NH Mo: MASS When you create a website you get the following jumbled mess. Relation Sex Marr Race Age Birthplace Mehitable COLBY Wife F M W 64 NH Occ: Keeping House Fa: NH Mo: NH Freeman E. COLBY Son M M W 40 NH Occ: Farmer Fa: NH Mo: NH Is there anyway to make the info stay blocked like Eri Colby is instead of the jumbled mess?? I've tried putting in tabs and you still get the jumbled mess. Using FO 8. Ronald Colby rmcolby@micro-net.com Salt Lake City, Utah I finally got my head together, now my body is falling apart. 3. HTML code does not know one hundred spaces or a tab from one space. So it would make no difference on a web page if Family Origins accepted tabs or not. Any “white space” is treated as one single space. I have hand coded a few census reports to be used on a web site and it gets to be a real pain in the keyboard fingers. To keep columns, I create tables to try to keep things in order. There may be an easier way, but I haven’t found it. To get the text in a source or note to automatically format on a web page, just as it is in your notes, some plain text, some tabular, and maybe another type or two, you could, probably use the “PRE” and “/PRE” tags, but to come out right, the web page would have to use the exact same font so the spacing would be the same. Then, what would happen it someone’s computer didn’t have that font installed? It would substitute something close, but would the tabular report still line up.? It could get to be a big job. These can be exported (to RTF) and then put into a web page. At 04:07 PM 6/12/01 -0500, Alfred Eller wrote: >HTML code does not know one hundred spaces or a tab from one space.
