    3. You can hit search and a dialog box comes up. You can input the town & state. If it does not come up you can just input the state, then search the alpha listing for a similar name. I find 95% of what I am looking for. What information will the Place Finder give you, and how does it work? I have a software program called "AniMap" and it will map a location (latitude/longitude) and show which state/county it was in (depending on which year you choose) since the formation of the United States. 3. Kim, When you do a search in The Place Finder, it lists the city, county, state, Latitude/Longitude, and elevation. It doesn't let you enter the year, so I assume it list the current counties in which the cities are found. You can enter a city and it will list all cities with the name and the county and state where each is found. You can enter the county and state, and it will list all cities in that county and state. Or you can list the state, and it will list all cities in all counties in the state. You cannot print maps with the program. 3. So far, the best source I have found are contained in two web sites. http://www.multimap.com/ and http://www.old-maps.co.uk/ Unfortunately, nothing has been found similar to the Place Finder and the GIS database (from the USGS)it uses. Maybe we can get a Place Finder page on the FOW site where similar web pages can be found for various countries. Personally, I could use one for France and Germany too. Others I know are looking for Canada. If you know of other "Place Finders", please post a message for all of us. 3. Per Bruce's web page (and recent discussions on this list), you can get FO10 Upgrade version (normally $19.95) Deluxe (normally an additional $10) for $29.95, and you can install both whether or not you have a previous version of Place Finder. That would not matter anyway, since there has never been more than one version of it, and the current one is the same as the first one. 3. Mary Jean, The "Deluxe" version of software usually denotes something extra, over and above the software itself, and frequently is additional software somewhat related. Such was the case with FO6 (I think) when I got FO "Deluxe" including Place Finder. I cannot tell you what was additional with versions 7, 8, or 9, since I got all three as simple upgrade versions. If you got FO9 Deluxe, you may or may not have received Place Finder with it, but apparently Place Finder is what makes version 10 "Deluxe," so you may be looking for something that is not there. Is there anything else on your CD other than Family Origins 9 itself? If so, that is likely what makes it "Deluxe." Maybe someone else on the list can be more specific, but I cannot tell how it applies to FO9 Deluxe, since I don't have it. YES! all you need to get either standard or deluxe package, at the upgrade price is to have registered any earlier version of Family Origins. You will pay the same ten dollars difference between the regular and the deluxe versions whether you already have the place finder or not.(last year the deluxe version also included two months subscription to something on Genealogy.con.)
