    3. Thank you Jane and Mike for your prompt reply, I will give Mike’s Plugin a go, what has made me so hesitant to go for the plugin is that I have had some real problems recently since upgrading to Windows 8.1. with Parallels Desktop 9 on my MacBookPro, it took 3 Parallels Support Engineers a total of 9 hours by remote sessions to sort the problem out, fortunately they covered the full cost, I am now running Windows 8.1 like Windows 7 style, but with one click can revert back to standard Windows 8.1. having installed from StarDock, Stat8 and ModernMix which I am very pleased with. I will let you know how I get on, hope to do it tomorrow. Best wishes John Payne On 7 Jan 2014, at 16:12, Beryl & Mike Tate <[email protected]> wrote: > John, > Please see the FHUG Knowledge Base > Family Historian > Installation Guide: > http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=how_to:index#installation_guide > This discusses what is in the C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\ folder. > > DO NOT EVER TOUCH ANY FILES IN THE C:\Program Files(x86)\ folder. > These are the installation files and settings for Family Historian. > > There are Family Historian files and settings in more places than I suspect you realise. > However, NONE of them can be relocated, but many can be exported to the Project's Public folder. > See the FHUG Knowledge Base > Family Historian > Understanding the Scope of Features: > http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=how_to:understanding_scope_of_features > > What I advise is that you use the Plugin "Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings". > This saves a copy of all the above settings in your Project folder for ease of backup and restore. > > Regards, Mike Tate > > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of John Payne > Sent: 07 January 2014 15:52 > To: Family Historian > Subject: [FHU] Transferring Project settings > > I have recently updated from XP to Windows 8.1, I have installed Family Historian in C Program Files (x86) and installed my full > Project in the Document Folder, my object is to tidy up so that all sub folders are located within a sub folder, possibly the Public > folder in the Project folder, for instance within the Family Historian C Program folder I have the following folders Program, Fact > Types, Property Box, etc, also individual Gedcoms and files relating to Family Historian. > Can perhaps Mike advise me if this is feasible. > I appreciate that the introduction of creating a Project was a great step forward, but separating the locations makes editing less > straightforward. > > John Payne > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
