Hi Mike I am using V5 of FH on Windows 7 and am using projects - they are a blessing. Thanks very much Mike for all your help. I had a long session yesterday and appear at last to have finally cracked 'sources' and am happy slinging in certificates etc. It has been an experience and I think I have ditched my fear of doing this. Very grateful indeed. ---------------------- Best wishes, Anne Mike Tate replied: "There is a great deal of advice in the free FHUG Knowledge Base about adding Sources and Multimedia. See http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/ for Family Historian and Ancestral Sources and Glossary of Terms. A good entry to start with is the animated tutorial for adding a Birth Certificate: http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=how_to:recording_details_from_a_birt h_certificate Basically, on the Source Record Multimedia tab you add new media and tell FH where it currently exists. FH then copies the file into the Project and creates a Multimedia Record to identify it." Regards, Mike Tate
