Thanks for the reply Jane. I have the Generations set to 'all' so it is not that, in any case there are older generations in the chart. As to the Marked chart , it is a quick and easy way to find where I was in the chart the last time I used it, at least it was until this problem arose. Using Named Lists for this would be fairly cumbersome in the context. Hope someone can come up with a solution. Ray G
Ray, What happens if you try to add the parents using the Chart? If you left-drag upwards from the Child box you should get a dotted box, with options to Add Father/Mother (new record) or Link Existing Record as Parent.
