Trevor, FH never deletes such empty Facts because that was requested by a number of users. In the case of a Death Event, the implication is that it is known that an Individual died but not where or when, etc. Eventually you will find that the GEDCOM becomes "1 DEAT Y" which means Death confirmed Yes, but with no other details, so do not purge this tag. Yes, if you really need to remove the Fact it must be deleted via the All tab or the Records Window. How to prevent/remove? This may have nothing to do with the original question, but if I give a person a date of death, then delete the date of death, the All tab in the Property Box still has a blank field "Died" which in turn is displayed in diagrams. Looking at the GEDCOM there is a "1 DEAT" for that person. I can delete the "Died" field in the All tab which in turn deletes the "1 DEAT" from the GEDCOM. I am therefore wondering if Family Historian should automatically remove the blank "Died" field when the death date is deleted? Trevor Rix
