You make it sound as though there are hundreds of messages a day Tim! No more than half a dozen usually. I suggest you just subscribe to digest mode, then you'll only get the one. Alternatively, you could create a folder for this list & then create a rule/filter directing all messages to the list to be diverted to that. Hence nothing in your in-box. You could then choose which ones you wanted to read and delete the rest. It would save you having to go through 'all' the messages in the digest e-mail 8>).
