    1. [FHU] Displaying ancestors spouses second marriages & half siblings

    3. Hi After a fairly comprehensive look through the menus and the on-line forum I can't seem to find a way to display the second marriages of spouses and their children that aren't blood ancestors. e.g. (Blood) ancestor John Doe marries Jane Smith John Doe Jnr results, but unfortunately John Doe dies and Jane Doe nee Smith remarries John Joe and John Joe results. In the all relatives diagram (with John Joe) being an ancestor, I can see John Joe=Jane Smith and John Doe, but not John Joe and John Joe. Is there a hidden tick box somewhere that will allow these additional none blood ancestors to be displayed? Thanks in advanced for any help. Best Regards, Duncan

    3. ( I sent this message earlier today but it doesn't seem to have reached the mailing list so I'm sending it again. Apologies if it arrives twice!) Hi Duncan, As you have found, the All Relatives diagram displays only blood relatives of the diagram root, and spouses of blood relatives. So a 'spouse of a spouse' of a blood relative is not included. There are ways of displaying those extra people, but none are ideal: 1.You can create an All Relatives diagram using John Doe and Jane Smith (as a couple) as the diagram root. This will display all blood relatives and spouse of both of them, so will include both John Doe jnr and John Joe jnr. However it may not include everyone in your current All Relatives diagram. If the current diagram root has other ancestral branches entered in FH, which start further down that the 'Doe' line, they will be excluded. This is because they are not blood relatives of either John Doe or Jane Smith. 2.You can create the All Relatives diagram as you do now, and then use Diagram > Insert into Diagram > All Relatives Tree (or maybe just Descendants tree) and select Jane Smith as the diagram root for the new tree. This tree will show her other husband and children etc.You will probably need to re-arrange parts of the original diagram to make space for the inserted tree.(Do this using the Movement Control Box.Click the second icon from the right in the Diagram toolbar then click Help in the Movement Control Box for further guidance). 3.You could try using the Everyone tree.(View > Standard Diagram Types > Everyone). However this is really only practical with a small database and the elements of the tree will need re-arranging to achieve a sensible layout. There is a request on the wish-list at FHUG for a diagram type that would include all individuals in a 'pool', which is what you want.(The Everyone diagram includes everyone in your database, and they may not all be connected in the same pool). If you would like to see this feature please join FHUG and vote for it here: http://www.fhug.org.uk/wishlist/wldisplay.php?searchstring=Whole%20Pool%20diagram&wcwcref=-1&byusrvote=include&currentpage=1&orderby=&orderseq=&wlwlref=501 Lorna On 28/11/2015 14:51, Duncan Jackson via wrote: > Hi > > After a fairly comprehensive look through the menus and the on-line forum I > can't seem to find a way to display the second marriages of spouses and > their children that aren't blood ancestors. >
