    1. [FHU] Moving FH6 to a new PC
    2. John Bradburn via
    3. I have followed the advice in using the plugin: Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings in order to make sure that everything in my FH6 is moved from my old to my new PC. In particular I have carefully followed the steps in the Family Historian V5 & V6 Migration Guide but when I attempt the final step of restoring the settings to my new PC I get the error message, "Backup Data Missing Error: Backup Data folder has no Family Historian backup data saved" On my new PC the data from the plugin is in "C:>Users>John>Documents>Family Historian Projects>Family Historian" which is the path I put into the Restore tab. Inside this folder are: folders "Plugin Data", "Program Data", " Tutorial Files", "Image List" and files "Registry Keys", "Version.data" All of these Folders and files appear to be populated except the first one, "Plugin Data" which is empty. There appears to be no way of modifying the Backup Data path under the Restore tab once I have filled it in by browsing for the file although this may not be a solution to the problem. I do not have any linked data or any media in my project at this time, but what I am particularly keen to migrate are a) a Custom Query which I use all the time and b) the Record Flags against those people associated with this query. Could someone please suggest what the problem may be and how to overcome it. Thanks and regards, John Bradburn. -----Original Message----- From: family-historian-users-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:family-historian-users-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of family-historian-users-request@rootsweb.com Sent: 12 December 2015 08:01 To: family-historian-users@rootsweb.com Subject: FAMILY-HISTORIAN-USERS Digest, Vol 10, Issue 274 Today's Topics: 1. 3. John, When you performed the Plugin BACKUP on old PC your chosen folder must have been the "C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Family Historian Projects" folder. So now on new PC the RESTORE needs the equivalent "C:\Users\John\Documents\Family Historian Projects" folder. This can be selected on the Options tab with the Choose Backup Folder button as explained in the Help & Advice. Usually by default this Plugin uses the Family Historian Backup folder set in Tools > Preferences > Backup. The FH Migration Guide advises that you set that Preference on the new PC before using this Plugin. For my understanding, did you do that?
