Laraine, I am absolutely hopeless with files and things and my pictures were in a mess, so my good friend Anne Algar sorted me out. I now go through the following : Family Historian Projects (accessed from "Documents" - Windows 7) Duncalf FH Duncalf FH.fh_data Media In the "Media" folder I have sub folders for BTs CMB, PRs CMB, Poor Law, Courts, Census etc. and just add new sub folders as I need them. Under each sub folder I have separate folders for individual sources i.e. Baps, Mars, Burials or Removal Orders, Bastardy Examinations etc. I simply save images into the appropriate folder and link them to the person or family from there. It also makes it easy for me to find an individual picture if I want to do something else with it. I am getting on for 7000 images now that the Cheshire PRs have come online :-) I still have a few images with the X through them, linked before I was sorted out, but now that I understand how the thing works I can easily remedy this. Also, I have discovered that if you make any change to the name of the image that you are linking to, it will become unlinked, so it is a good idea to work out what you want to call the images before you start. I use "Bur Prestbury 1794 PR" for both the image name and the source citation, and if I have events for different people in the image I use (1) and (2) in the source citation, using the same image for both. I don't care if this is the wrong way to do it - it works for me. Hope this helps. Ann We are basically doing both the same things but I don't have the separate files in the media folder. I have these listed as sub folders under the main folder of Family Information. Whatever way you do wouldn't make much difference. Or does it? One problem I am having at the moment is that when I use the same picture (a church for example) for two or more people instead of this appearing in the narrative report once it appears, if I used it for 3 people, it appears 3 times. That is one thing I am trying to resolve and ma looking at the hand book. I bought a printed version of this.
