Remember, before you upgrade, to look at the advice on the FHUG website http://www.fhug.org.uk/cgi-bin/index.cgi in the Knowledge Base regarding Family Historian Installation at http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=how_to:index#installation_guide especially on how to Move Family Historian Settings from PC to PC at http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=how_to:move_settings. Many users have discovered too late that they had not preserved sufficient data on their old PC before moving to a new PC. I started with FH 2.1 and since then have upgraded each time a new version is released. Over the same time period I've also upgraded my PC several times (and also had to perform the occasional rebuild). If I remember rightly, each time I've had to start by installing FH 2.1 and then perform the various upgrades to each major version from saved downloads. Can anyone tell me if there's an easier way that I'm missing? This is no urgent query as I'm not intending to get a new PC for at least another 12 months, but I can see a position in a few years time when we're up to FH 7.0 or so when it's going to take a day and a half to reinstall the software!
