    1. [FHU] *** News of Version 5 - and a Christmas Offer ***

    3. I am very pleased to say that we have today announced some details of version 5 of Family Historian, which is due for release in February 2012. Please see www.family-historian.co.uk/whats-new-in-5. With Christmas coming up, we thought version 5 would make a great Christmas present. But how can you give it to anyone as a Christmas present when it hasn't been released yet? We had a think about that and came up with this offer as a solution: Anyone who buys a boxed copy of version 4 (full version) from one of a list of participating stockists, from today (10 Nov 2011) onwards, will be entitled to a free CD upgrade to version 5 when available. That way, you can give friends or relatives a copy of version 4 to unwrap on Christmas Day, with the upgrade to follow shortly. Or you could keep it yourself of course. Also, from 10 Nov onwards until version 5 comes out, anyone who purchases a licence for the download version of version 4 will be entitled to a free downloadable upgrade to version 5 when it is released. Again, this only applies to purchases of the full version - i.e. it does not apply to purchases of upgrades to version 4. For more details about the Christmas offer, and for the list of stockists participating in the offer, please see www.family-historian.co.uk/v5-xmas-offer. Please remember that the offer only applies if you buy it from a stockist who is participating in the offer. It will not apply if, for example, you buy a copy from Amazon as they are not participating in this offer. Incidentally, when version 5 is released, version 4 users will be able to buy an upgrade to it either on CD, or as a download, just as version 3 users can currently buy a CD upgrade, or a download upgrade, to version 4. 3. Simon, On 4th November I ordered from TWR Computing a boxed copy of Family Historian V4 as a Christmas present for my daughter, who has been impressed with the program when she has seen me using my copy. If I had been aware of the new version and the offer I would have delayed ordering in order that she could have the free upgrade to version 5. Can you confirm that because of the 10th November dealine she will be unable to get the free upgrade and also tell me how much the version 5 upgrade will cost on CD on it's release. Many thanks, Margaret North On 10/11/2011 18:27, Simon Orde wrote: > I am very pleased to say that we have today announced some details of > version 5 of Family Historian, which is due for release in February 2012. > Please see www.family-historian.co.uk/whats-new-in-5. > > With Christmas coming up, we thought version 5 would make a great Christmas > present. 3. Simon, I too am having difficulty in deciding whether to go direct to V5 or buy the upgrade from V4.1 or buy another version of V4.1 now to get the free upgrade? Telling us the prices of V5 and the V4 - V5 upgrade would be extremely useful.
