    3. Hi All First thanks to all for help with this problem. I've been kicking it around for some time but not getting anywhere. Mike - Tried your suggestion and it worked but left a box with the ancestors name at the original point, for both spouses. These boxes appear on a printed chart. Also as the distance between boxes increased the connecting line changes to dotted. I suspect there is a setting to sort that. I thought the conversion from Genbox was reasonable but now believe there are some serious shortcomings in the gedcom file. There appear to be a lot of @XXX@ symbols scattered aroundin the records table. I think rather than re-enter or check all the data for 1100 people I'll wait until Feb. when the new version comes out, which is supposed to sort this problem out. Thanks again for all your help. Alan

    3. Alan, There are settings to sort out your diagram. In the All Relatives diagram, especially with both root spouses, FH tries to keep spouses together, but also show them in their sibling position. This is why you get two boxes, one being a kind of proxy for the other, and it may occur for more than just the root spouses. Also this often results in these spouses and their proxies being far apart and joined by lines that cross other lines. These are unavoidable side effects of the All Relatives diagram with complex families. You can hide the proxy boxes if you wish by using right mouse click on the proxy box and ticking Hidden in the context menu. You can reveal them again by removing the Hidden tick, but to see the hidden boxes use Diagram > Hide/Show Boxes. The dotted line indicates it is crossing another solid line. It can be changed using Diagram > Options > Lines > Crossing Lines > Solid. Also, sometimes the spouse boxes may be moved apart such that they are nearer their sibling position. It depends how complex your tree is.
