    3. Stranger and stranger - like Ian, I have also checked my flags.fha files (using Win7), and found 2 copies, one in  C:\Program Files (x86)\Family Historian with 2 flags (this I presume is the base one which comes with the software), and one in  C:\Program Data\Calico Pie\Family Historian, which has 3 - Living, Private & Speculative. But in FH, I have 6 - the others for Twin, Never Married, and Died without issue (d.s.p). So where are those held? Thanks in advance for any light shed on this!   Regards, Andrea ________________________________ From: Ian Thirlwell <fh.thirlwell@ntlworld.com> To: family-historian-users@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, 25 November 2011, 19:20 Subject: Re: [FHU] Flags This thread has prompted me to check my system since it is a while since I created any new flags. The question is where are they all, as I have now forgotten? The Flags.fha file in the folder under ProgramData (Win7) only has three defined: Living, Private and Not Married. Where are all the others, census, BMD etc that show in the list when I want to add one to an individual? Its location depends on Windows operating system. XP is at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ Vista & 7 at C:\ProgramData\ (BTW this is an important folder to backup regularly.) The Flags.fha file is plain text and should look like: [.index] Count=4 [Flag1] Name=Living Tag=__LIVING [Flag2] Name=Private Tag=__PRIVATE [Flag3] Name=Marriage 1 Tag=__MARRIAGE_1 [Flag4] Name=Marriage 2 Tag=__MARRIAGE_2 ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to FAMILY-HISTORIAN-USERS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

I think Flags are only in listed in that file if you set them using the Flag status to Always include, but Family Historian will also list and Flags which also exist in the currently opened project. So if your project has the flags in it you will see them, if you open an empty project you will only see the ones listed in the settings file. -- Jane. 3. The answer is found in Tools > Work with Named Lists and Flags under the Flag Status button. Those marked as 'Always include this flag in flag lists' are recorded in the Flags.fha file. All Flags are also recorded in the GEDCOM .ged file under the 1 _FLGS tag against each Individual. If 'Always include this flag in flag lists' is NOT ticked, then once no Individual has the Flag assigned, then it automatically disappears. Whereas, if 'Always include this flag in flag lists' is ticked, then the Flag continues to be listed even when assigned to no Individuals.
