    1. Re: [FHU] Help re Media please - and a poor law facts set

    3. I have the same problem with Notes, Victor, where for example in a lease three or four people are mentioned. I did think that perhaps I would use the source citation, but then I need a fact to go with it! Also, one of the removal orders I have mentions 10 people! I have no facts at present for any of the poor law documents, and I have no idea how to make them. I did, some years ago, correspond with Jane about a facts set for poor law but have had no time to think about it. Perhaps now that Lincolnshire Archives is closed and I am awash with spare time I could do that now. Is there someone who could make the facts set if I give the relevant information? I tend, when sending information out to others, to use individual narrative reports, knitting together the PDF files to make one long one. I haven't done it for a while now, so have forgotten where, but there is something that you can tick not to have duplicate notes for the children in an individual narrative. 3. Thank you so very much to all of those who have tried to help me............in particular, Jane, Anne and Victor. I was succesful in accessing the media file via Windows, but tried to move things around within it (already linked..........dare I say) so now I am in a horrible mess to say the least........and doing my best to remain calm and collected...... [repeat Mantra............this is for pleasure, this is for pleasure.......] Not quite sure what to do next - I do have ideas for the future, but not sure how to sort out the existing links which are now showing up as Xs. Thinks........could I unlink them and try again............that might be next move. Laraine

    3. Hi Laraine, Don't panic! There are two approaches to sorting out the muddle, and which is the best to use may depend on how many images you have already linked. In either method, decide in advance exactly how you want to organise your images, and set up sub-folders within the Media folder accordingly. That will make it easy to get future images in the right place. As you say, you could start again from scratch. This might be easiest if nearly all the links seem to be wrong and there is no pattern to the problem. But it might be quicker to use the 'Re-map' facility in the Work with External File Links box. Try this if the number of links showing up with Xs is not too great, or if there are lots wrong but it is just a matter of most of them being in Folder A while FH is looking for them in Folder B. Open up the 'Work with External File Links' box and click on the 'Help' button in the bottom corner. This will guide you through what you need to do. (This is a good tip when you get stuck in FH: look for a 'Help' button!) Good luck, Lorna > Not quite sure what to do next - I do have ideas for the future, but not > sure how to sort out the existing links which are now showing up as Xs. > Thinks........could I unlink them and try again............that might be > next move. > > Laraine >
